one of the greatest spoofs ever

May 14, 2008 · Comments Off

alright i know this video is far from being ‘fresh’ and frankly speaking i have no idea when this was done. but after a visit to icanhascheezburger where they had yet another hilarious picture spoofing the lines of “they see me rollin, they hatin” from a certain rap song the tune just got stuck in my head and one thing led to another…well…

they see me mowin my front lawn…

(and yes, that is indeed Donny Osmond trying to dance along with Weird Al’s rapping)

this blog post really made me laugh and marvel and how usually reserved singaporeans do express their displeasure :)

one of the prettiest settings for a proposal! and it was indeed a clever idea of the guy to get a photographer to capture the precious moment :)

i agree wholeheartedly with cassandra leong. inconsiderate drivers who knock down animals should also be punished! a life is a life, we should not discriminate against animals!

Malaysia’s MM blogs too!

May 5, 2008 · Comments Off

the ex-prime minister of Malaysia has his very own blog!

just a lil surprised that the banner ain’t one of him beaming beatifically down upon adoring masses.

wow.

i’m tempted to say more, but currently am unable to think of things to say that won’t involve me getting charged for acts of sedition on the internet. just that, well, you know, i think the current PM doesn’t deserve the insults he’s been getting from him ever since the recent election saw Barisan National falling short of the 2/3 majority they needed for parliament.

he’s doing the best he can and needs all the encouragement he can get. criticism, especially from his predecessor who famously proclaimed to the world that he had his trust ‘betrayed’ by the current PM(which fully explains why he is the way he is) in 2006 is uncalled for.

give him a break. it is not entirely his fault.

the people have spoken and he is but only one man. think about the mess he has had to clean up in his short term as prime minister thus far. its difficult to bring about the change he had pledged in his mandate if people constantly keep doing the things they love to do regardless of what he says. also, if someone hadn’t screwed a certain opposition politician over during the latter’s term as DPM, i think the results of the election would’ve been in BN’s favor. don’t forget that the 2004 elections were still in BN’s favor as that opposition politician was still in jail and unable to exert great influence like he did in 2008.

but whatever. its not like i can do anything about it, can i? :)

The 3rd Commandment

April 13, 2008 · Comments Off

Series : The Ten Commandments : Road Map to a Great Life
Topic : Turn Profanity into Praise (3rd Commandment)
Speaker : SP Vincent Lun

[ note : words in italics are my intepretation of the speaker's elaboration ]

Exodus 20:7
Names are Importatnt ( Proverbs 22:1 )

THE NAME OF GOD

1. The God who revealed His name to us ( Hebrews 1:1-3 )
- For us to know God
- Made God vulnerable to the misuse of His name

2. The name of the Lord our God ( Exodus 3:13-14 )
YHWH(ancient script had no vowels) is a form of “I Am” - Translated in most English bibles as “The Lord”
- two possible pronounciations : Yehowah (a.k.a Jehovah, possibly) and Yahweh (more likely to be so)

3. The Grand Positive : Hallowed be Your Name

Hebrew word of “misuse” or “in vain” = to empty, to ruin, to make a hollow sound, to pervert

Jesus stated it so well in Mathew 6:8 “Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name”

4. Why should God’s name be honoured and reverenced?

a) Because He is good
- “God is good” : mentioned at least 700 times in the bible
- Exodus 34:6

b) Because He is powerful

c) Because He is perfect and just

HOW TO TURN PROFANITY INTO PRAISE

1. By using God’s name reverently
- Never leverage things to your favor using God’s name in vain
ie : using it to make others feel guilty

2. By testifying to God’s goodness
- King David’s Testimony ( Psalm 66:16 )

3. By worshipping God correctly
- Leviticus 26:2
- Dress decently for God (especially in His House)
- Worship with songs and prayer, praises unto God
- Have the Zeal and Passion for His Name

4. By our exemplary life
- Titus 1:16
- Christians = “Little Christ”
- We bear the name of God, therefore we have to be consistent in our words and deeds to honor His Name

All For Love - Hillsong

April 12, 2008 · Comments Off

I love this song so much!

However I had never watched the concert clip of the song until today. Fault me if you must, but I was very impressed by the singers. It was a beautiful arrangement, with their harmonies and solo parts.

When I was listening to the song, I was imagining it to be a typical worship team arrangement, where there was a worship leader with the backup singers standing at the back. But these singers, singing together to praise God…there’s just something special in that way(to me, at least).

I hope you are touched by the song, just as I was :)

Happy Easter !

March 23, 2008 · Comments Off

Easter08
Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday for our sins and rose again on Easter Sunday :)

my church commemorated Easter by having an evangelistic play. it was really good! and the icing on the cake was how God touched so many people with it. during altar call, many people went upfront to receive Jesus into their hearts or to rededicate themselves. made me beam widely from ear to ear :D

love seeing people come to the Lord. i hope that as i do my small part in serving God behind the scenes, somehow, God will touch the people i come into contact with.

Rocfish at Riverlife

March 21, 2008 · Comments Off

Rocfish (Christian version of Hi-5) came to my church for Good Friday Celebrations in the children’s church today.

was quite an experience for me to see 600 kids ranging from 2 years of age to 12 years jumping up and down, having the time of their lives :)

Rocfish
made up of 5 young people who have tons of energy( lol the way i talk, its as if i’m much older than them )

admired how they jumped up and down, danced and smiled without ever once wavering. but of course its through God’s power that they are able to do His work with children.

(update : finally got the video up! didn’t even know i succeeded in uploading cos the previous few times resulted in a blank screen and me screaming in frustration)

us teachers and helpers were given bright yellow tees to wear

before everything started, the sound guys were playing hillsong kids worship videos. and now i can’t get this song out of my head

just makes you feel like boppin’ along…
